The Commons Thonglor
The Commons is one of my favourite places to chill and bring my laptop while sipping my coffee or enjoying a glass of wine. It is a community hub and it is considered a mall by many but it actually has a completely different concept. Built over multiple levels, it has both indoor and outdoor areas, which is very uncommon for Bangkok. The indoor area offers many food and drink options: a Greek place, a burger place, a pizza place, a spot for cheeseboards and charcuterie, a place serving only beer, a matcha café, a Peruvian spot, a wine bar, and more. Basically, everything to match your mood.
The outdoor areas have many tables and bean bags, both on the stairs and on the ground. You can also sit on the upper levels. Everyone can get what they like and socialise, or find a quiet space (plugs are scattered around). It’s slightly on the expensive side, but absolutely worth it.
Homework Cafe
If you’re looking for a peaceful corner to unwind in the city, this café is the perfect escape. Hidden in the heart of Phrom Phong, it’s serene and elegantly designed, giving off calm and sophisticated vibes. Whether you’re in the mood for a lazy brunch, smooth coffee, or a sweet pastry, this place has it all. The menu is surprisingly extensive, offering baked treats, healthy dishes like avocado chicken with rice, and a variety of breakfast options.
I ordered a hot mocha and settled in with my laptop. There wasn’t a power outlet near my table, but luckily my battery was full and the Wi-Fi was flawless. Soft background music created the perfect atmosphere, and before I knew it, two hours had flown by.

The décor feels instantly calming: everything is made of wood, from the tables to the interiors, and every detail seems carefully chosen. Lamps, flowers, cups, dried fruit, a table with board games, and small wooden suns decorate the space. Large windows let in soft light and open onto a hidden green street, giving a peaceful escape from Bangkok’s concrete jungle.
The intimate vibe is perfect as it never feels rushed or crowded. Soft music plays in the background, enhancing the calm atmosphere. One wall is decorated with hanging white shells, and a big mirror reflects light, making the room feel even bigger. Warm shades of brown and white dominate, with minimalistic chairs and lamps. There are also small outdoor spots with deck chairs for a quiet moment outside.
The menu is impressive, offering a wide range of coffee (hot and iced) and food. Lunch sets are available for 599 THB (two drinks included) or weekday lunch offers from 11 to 14 for only 179 THB, including a drink. The café is quiet and bright, making it perfect to bring a laptop and work for a few hours. The calm weekday atmosphere makes it my ideal spot for focus and relaxation.
I ordered an oat latte, my favourite, and lemongrass chicken with rice, which was simple, flavorful, and beautifully plated. The chicken had a tangy lemongrass taste, and the rice was perfectly cooked. Everything tasted fresh and comforting, just like the atmosphere around me.
